1854 Dec. 11 Brought in to the world in Aberfoil, AL
1862 Enlists as privatein Confederate Army Discharged twice for being underage; on 3rd try he is able to remain until end of war
1865 Apr. 8 Surrenders with regiment at Greensboro, NC Has suffered 4 severe injuries as well as many lesser injuries
1865 May Now in Colorado County in Texas
1865-67 It is suggested that he may have been in Mexico fighting at the time of Maximilian
1867 Settled in Columbus, TX; living as a farmer
1872-73 Possibly serving as member of Texas State Police He was rumored to have spent three years as a Ranger, but it’s possible that he had spent two as TSP, and one year as a Ranger in 1874.
1874 All year Ends his time with the Rangers  The only records confirm 1874, but it is thought he spent three years as a Ranger, with 1874 as final term
1875 Lives again in Colordao County area, working as a wheel repairman
1876 Has a gunfight with an unnamed rival; kills his opponent After crosing paths, the two men dismount, insult each other, and shoot it out
1877 Gunfight at a large party for the local Germans; wounds several rivals Dallas suffers a wound, also, and is captured, but then quickly escapes
1878 Gunfight with the Sparks brothers, 3 dead
1878 Rumored to have been a Marshal in Socorro at this time No records to confirm this, though it seems a popular thought; might also have been in, or up to, ’81
1879-80 Living in Texas Panhandle Possibly before he possibly was in New Mexico
1880 Living In Llano County, TX A later paper reported he had had a “serious difficulty” here
1880 Went to San Antonio for treatment Not known if it was for a gunshot wound, or simply an illness; perhaps a result of his “serious difficulty”
1880 Stays in San Antonio until move to El Paso
1881 Apr. 11 Made Marshal of El Paso, TX Becomes first Marshal to make a difference, but joins a heritage of drunken lawmen of El Paso
1881 Apr. 14 “4 dead men in 5 seconds” gunfight Stoudenmire kills 2 gunmen and one innocent
1881 Apr. 17 Ambushed by Bill Johnson, kills him and pursues other hidden attackers Suffers a shot to his foot and requires a week of rest
1881 Apr. 24 Back on the job after recovery
1881 May. 28 First train arrives in El Paso; Dallas greets rail president
1881 Oct. 19 Stoudenmire is praised in local paper for removing many of the town “worthless curs”
1881 Nov. Captures outlaw Joe Bright and delivers him to Deming, NM Is given $500 reward
1881 Dec. 13 Arrests and delivers Chris Moesner to Lake Valley, NM Is given $500 reward
1881 Dec. 16 Ambushed by Joe King; unhurt, he fires back Due to close proximity Dallas is blinded by the gunflash and can not aim well
1881 ~Dec. 23 Uses detective work to catch thieves stealing guns from store Developing reputation for crime solving skills
1881 Dec. 28 Stops theft ring in Rincon, NM; brings 6 arrests, including thieves and fences Asked by NM authorities to come help solve a three month theft delimma
1882 Jan. In Lamy, NM busting up thugs; proves effective and helpful
1882 Feb. Gets sick and decides to visit home of Columbus, TX
1882 Feb. 14 Dallas’ best friend and brother-in-law is killed while Dallas is out of town. Murdered by Manning brothers
1882 Feb. 20 Dallas marries Isabella Sherrington in Columbus, TX
1882 Mar. 29 Dallas storms in the Manning Variety Theater and rips into two corrupt Texas Rangers
1882 Apr. 13 All in one very brief sitting Dallas goes from being Marshal, to being removed from office, to being voted back in Leon Metz has it happening in under ten minutes
1882 May. Another ambush on Stoudenmire is set in motion, but avoided when he never emerges from the saloon due to being passed out drunk on the saloon floor all afternoon
1882 May. 29 Submits his resignation letter from position of El Paso marshal Also apologizes for drunken behavior
1882 Jul. 13 Appointed a deputy U.S. Marshal for the area of West Texas and will headquarter in El Paso
1882 Jul. 29 Fires shots at man he is quarelling with; both men are drunk and it is a minor event New El Paso marshal Gillett shows up with a shotgun to keep things from getting worse
1882 ~Aug. Goes to Las Vegas for a stay at the hot springs, and level out his drinking problems a bit Meets with Pat Garrett on the train and the two converse quite a bit
1882 Sep. 18 Gunfight with Doc Manning, assasinated by Jim Manning in much the same way as his friend Doc had been killed Had Jim Manning not snuck up and shot Dallas from behind, he looks to have had Doc Manning under control
