Cheyenne (1955-1963)

The real thing about the show Cheyenne was Clint Walker. Cheyenne was a great show, but whatever show Clint Walker was in would have been great. And had he not starred in Cheyenne it probably would have been just another western that came and went.

Featuring Cheyenne Bodie, who never seemed to work the same job twice, the show followed along as the lead character met up with innocent enough people who just happened to drag him into adventures.  Which, notably, often involved (required even?) Clint Walker to remove his shirt.  I guess even the ladies should have a reason to tune into westerns. But Clint was such a great guy both on and off the screen that one doesn’t feel he’s watching  a show-off actor, but instead  possibly Superman masquerading as a lowly thespian.

Initially L.Q. Jones was along for the ride as Cheyenne’s sidekick, Smitty Smith, but I suppose Cheyenne’s adventures were too much for Smitty to keep up with, as he was gone after the first handful of episodes.

Cheyenne can be seen on Starz, or on Amazon Prime with a Starz addition.  Click the link below to be taken to the show’s IMDB page.
